HiNoon is the Hayden Island Neighborhood Organization. It serves the people and the interests of Hayden Island admirably. Currently, the continued battle of air quality, the homeless issue and the crime rate associated with the lottery strip mall are all major issues being addressed by the group. The HiNoon facebook group is a great source of information and can be viewed here. The website can be accessed here.
HiNoon Meeting is held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the Oxford Suites.
Living on the water, basking in the sun, it is sometimes easy to forget the rest of the world we leave when we walk down the dock. The fact is though, those of us that live and play on the water are an integral part of Hayden Island, and its future. Currently, there are a number of big issues facing the island. Emergency Preparedness, air quality, rising crime and lottery row being foremost. This page will be the place to start for links to other sites and articles that will help inform and educate the community on the on-going status of these issues.
Do you know this woman?
When talk turns to Air Quality and the lack of action on behalf of DEQ to require APES and ORCO, two of the major polluters in North Portland and the same folks that have brought you the smell, the headaches and nausea the last few years, JMBI's Mary Lou Putnam's name and work is at the top of the conversation. Mary Lou and Steve have worked tirelessly for resolution. Follow Mary Lou's blog here. HiNoon has pledged to take up the cause as well, in coordination with Portland Clear Air and other neighborhood groups. Please check out these sites, attend a HiNoon meeting and add your voice this very critical issue.
