Committees are vitally important in working with the board to achieve the priorities set by the Board based on membership directives. In 2020, the board approved of the creation of a standing Legal Counsel Review (LRC), to serve as a liaison between the board and JBMI's legal counsel and to provide direction and advice as needed by the board. The purpose of all standing committees is to ensure there is continuity and knowledge transfers from year to year as officers and board members change to ensure the critical areas of JBMI's business have high visibility with the board and the community. The standing committees are: Finance, Legal Counsel Review (LRC), Architectural Review Committee (ARC), and the Harbor Master Committee (HMC). All other committees are created by the current board to address the board's initiatives and priorities for the year.
Among recommended committees include a Landscaping Committee, Security Committee, Row Captain Committee. All committees must have a board member on the committee to ensure the board's direction is being followed and to provide leadership. Typically committees are most successful and productive when they are small (2-4 members including the board member).
Watch this page for the committees and subsequent opportunities that will evolve as the new 2021 officers and board set the year's priorities. If a member has an idea and need for a committee, please contact the board.
This is your community. The board cannot make the changes members request or move JBMI forward without the support and active participation of the membership.
